[…] you read my magicJack post, you know that I recently posted a WANTED request for a digital answering machine. A few days went […]

I love my MagicJack! I’m wondering if there’s any sort of fan club. I’d love to be able to explore the U.S. and Canada by phone. I’d like to talk with people about their local culture. I’m very interested in talking with creative types who live around NYC.

I have made my first call on MagicJack. I like it. I have also received my first call. This is great. I have DSL and a land line. I also have a Cell phone. I would like to cut out ATT land line. I will have to go to another company for my computer. Can anyone give me some ideas?

Wayne,

You will need some kind of high speed internet connection for MJ to work. If you have DSL now, you can either have DryLoop (no dial tone) service through AT&T or compare cable and other provider’s in your area. What I did, was to keep my dial tone and land line phone number with measured local service through AT&T. That way, if my power or computer ever goes out, I still have my landline and dial tone as a backup. The price difference with AT&T between dry loop or measured local was very small, so it was worth it for me to go with the measured. I get to call about 12 towns in my local area for a low monthly flat rate plus people anywhere can still call me on my old landline.
